Happy Halloween!
We went to a Halloween party last night in John's grandparents' neighborhood. Our kids picked out their own costumes from our dress-up box...here they are! Adam was a Ninja Turtle, Joshua was Robin Hood, and Janie changed her mind at the last minute and decided to be "Boy". She is wearing Joshua's painting smock and carrying his Goofy stuffed animal. Gotta love these silly kids!

An update...because it's been a while.
John is still working in financial aid. He doesn't love it, but he works hard and does his best anyway, and does all the horticulture work he can on the side. He is a great husband and father, and we love him.
I am blessed to be able to stay home with our sweet kiddos, and I love it. It's my dream job. We're finally getting a housework routine down, which helps me. I have so much to learn about homemaking but I am grateful for the opportunity to learn it at home.
Adam is six. He is a kind-hearted, fun-loving boy. He had a loose tooth for weeks until John finally tied a string to it and tied the other end to the doorknob. Joshua slammed the door, and out came the tooth! Adam put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy, then went to sleep. In the morning I found him sitting on the couch with such a sad face! "The tooth fairy didn't leave me ANYTHING." We talked about the tooth fairy for a little while and he asked me, "Is there really a tooth fairy, Mom?" I looked at him for a minute and said, "No, Adam, there isn't a tooth fairy. Your parents put money under your pillow because we're so proud of you, growing up so much." He looked at me thoughtfully and said, "I think there really is a tooth fairy."
Joshua is four now and he is a bundle of energy and excitement. He doesn't run, instead he bounces from place to place. I've been trying to spend more time with him and it has made a world of difference; he has really opened up a lot in the last little while. He wants to be a knight when he grows up, and ride on a three-headed dragon. He loves animals and is very gentle with them and unafraid.
Janie will be two next month. She is darling and fun. My favorite thing about her is what a little woman she is already. She is a motherly little person; she loves dolls and babies, and goes around the house adopting all the stuffed animals she finds. She loves to help and put things away; she always wants her hands clean; and she loves to be pretty (though she won't keep bows in her hair). And she gives very sweet hugs and kisses. She makes me want to be more womanly myself so I can be a better example for her. She does have a tomboyish side too, as you can see.
